Ameh Erico has emerged as the candidate of the All Progressives Congress for the Kogi East Senatorial District after winning the party’s primary election held in Idah on Monday.
According to results announced by the returning officer in Lokoja, Erico secured 73,317 votes to defeat six other aspirants in the contest.Tim Nda Diche of Bassa Local Government Area came second with 3,238 votes.
Other aspirants and their scores included Okutepa Usman Dalandi with 85 votes, Jibrin Echocho with 51 votes, Akor Yunusa Kashim with 43 votes, Muri Ajaka with three votes, and Muhammed Bala Alfa with two votes.
The primary election attracted APC members from the nine local government areas in Kogi East. Party officials said all aspirants were screened and cleared before the exercise.
Observers and party members described the election as peaceful and orderly, with a high turnout recorded across the district.With the victory, Erico becomes the APC candidate for the 2027 general elections and is expected to begin consultations across the senatorial district.
