26 Underaged Abducted Children Rescued By Sokoto Police Command

Parading the children and the abductors connected with human trafficking, the Sokoto Command Police Commissioner Ali Hayatu Kaigama said the principal suspect, Kulu Dogonyaro and one Elizabeth Ojah of FCT Abuja alongside 8 others were arrested in connection with the criminal act.

He said the suspects confirmed travelling with the children willingly approved by their parents to hand over to one NGO based in Abuja to adorpt and train them academically adding that mothers of the children are all widows and that the children were abducted on their way to Islamiyya schools adding that N150k to N250k was charged per child from Kulu and her accomplice.

Mothers of the first 5 rescued victims were traced and all confirmed knowing Mrs. Kulu in Sokoto.

The mothers are all widows who were deceived to part with their children under the pretence that they will be handed over to an Abuja Based NGO which is willing to shoulder the responsibilities of their welfare and upbringing.

While other children victims were abducted to their way to Islamiyya school.

Furthermore, investigation was extended to some states of the federation where 15 additional children (Victims) were rescued and 2 additional suspects arrested, all suspects arrested stated that they got the children through Mrs. Kulu Dogonyaro who happen to be our principal suspect.

Meanwhile total number of 20 rescued children were handed over to Sokoto State Orphanage home for proper care, so far 10 suspects are arrested.

They include, One Bala Abubakar of Tudun Wada Area Sokoto who gave her a total number of 28 children including 6 of his biological children received in turn the sum of money ranging from N150,000 – N250,000 per child respectively from Kulu and her accomplices.

In connection with criminal conspiracy, cheating, impersonation and forgery,CP Kaigama recalls that sometimes in 2018, one Danjumma Garba of Bukkuyum LGA of Zamfara State and 3 others reported at the State CID Sokoto that One Police Officer by name Abdulnasir Bello and Kabiru Danumma confronted him and collected the sum of N420,000 to get them into the Nigeria Police Force.

Acting on reliable information, Operative of the Sokoto State Police Command arrested One Abdulnasir Bello of Bado Area in the Police Headquarters premises, on interrogation the suspect confessed to have been impersonating Police since 2016, parading himself as a DSP and performing illegal duty.

He similarly collected money from individuals under the pretence of getting their children recruited into the Police Force.

When his house was searched,Police Training manual13 NPF letter of provisional offer for constable of police, 15 NPF guarantor form, passport of 27 applicants, Police Facing Caps and forged police ID card were recovered.

In a related development, Mr. John the manager of Ifeoma Hotel Old Airport Area Sokoto reported that a woman identified as Balkisu Garba of Gidan Dare behind Jumu’at Mosque was brought into the Hotel by an unidentified guest and was slaughtered in a hotel room by the same man.

On receipt of the report, the Divisional Police officer swiftly swung into action, as a result, the suspect forgot a bag containing receipts of payment and 3 mobile phone SIM cards.

The items led to the arrest of the suspects.

Subsequently, another criminal act by the suspected bandits who invaded Badon Runji Area Sokoto and kidnapped one Barrister Rukayya Mustapha and One Salim Abdulsalam were arrested.

Kaigama informed newsmen that the police operatives from Yabo Division in conjunction with Military and Vigilante Group acted on credible information and rescued the Barrister.

The team went to the den of bandits around Binji axis where they traced footprints that led to arrest of the kidnappers after exchange of gun battle.

At the end, 10 rounds of live ammunition, 2 solar panel, 1 Tecno Mobile phone and blanket were recovered at the scene.

The Commissioner then commended Governor Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto for his tremendous support throughout this investigation and the good people of Sokoto State of their continuous cooperation and contributions while the investigation last.

CP Ali Hayatu Kaigama also commended the dedication of the officers and men of the Command for their tireless performances and urged the public to cooperate with the polic through providing vital information to aid the fight against crime, as security is everybodys’ business.

He assured collaborative work with sister agencies towards restoring peace and security in the State for economic development.
