300-Level Accounting Student, Comrade Kiku Roy Magaji, Joins UNIJOS SUG Presidential Race

By Isreal Adamu, Jos

Comrade Kiku Roy Magaji, a 300-level Accounting student at the University of Jos (UNIJOS), officially declared his intention on Wednesday to contest for the position of President of the Students’ Union Government (SUG) of the institution.

Speaking to a group of students after collecting his nomination form at the Directorate of Student Affairs, Comrade Magaji described UNIJOS as more than just an academic institution, calling it a “home of knowledge” and a nurturing ground for future leaders, thinkers, and innovators.

He praised the university’s history of producing student leaders who have stood up for justice and advocated for positive change, stating that he aims to continue this legacy by leading a wave of leadership focused on the collective good of the student body.

In his address, he emphasized the importance of unity among students, declaring that the strength of the student body lies in its ability to stand together. He rallied students under the campaign mantra of “Ubuntu,” an African philosophy that emphasizes interconnectedness and mutual support.

“The concept of Ubuntu reminds us that our successes are collective, and our challenges must be faced together. My aspirations for this position stem from a deep commitment to serve every student and to champion the issues that matter to them,” Magaji said.

He further pledged to foster an inclusive environment that values every opinion, ensuring that the voices of all students are heard. Comrade Magaji promised a transparent and open administration that prioritizes service to the entire university community, promoting collaboration, understanding, and respect among students.

“As your SUG President, I will prioritize initiatives that benefit not just individual students but the entire university community. Together, we can cultivate a vibrant campus that embodies the spirit of Ubuntu. We are stronger when we stand united,” he added.

Comrade Magaji expressed his gratitude to those who have contributed to making the university a better place and called on the students to support him in his quest to lead the SUG with integrity and dedication.
