Senator Wamakko Launches Second Phase of Empowerment Program to Support Constituents

By Muhammad Ibrahim, Sokoto

Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, representing Sokoto North Senatorial District, has launched the second phase of his empowerment program, targeting beneficiaries from Sokoto North, Sokoto South, Wamakko, and Kware Local Government Areas.

The flag-off ceremony, held in Kware, featured the distribution of 200 electric-powered tricycles, 1,000 bags of 50kg rice, and 200 motorcycles for ward chairmen, women leaders, social media coordinators, and traditional leaders. Sewing machines and grinding machines were also distributed to promote self-reliance and improve livelihoods.

Alhaji Nasiru Italy, an APC youth leader who represented Wamakko, said the initiative has already covered eight local governments and would soon extend to the remaining 15 across the state. He described it as part of the senator’s commitment to widespread support for his constituents.

Deputy Speaker of the Sokoto State House of Assembly, Alhaji Kabiru Ibrahim Kware, commended Wamakko’s leadership, noting that no politician in recent history has distributed over 4,000 bags of rice to constituents.

APC vice chairman for Sokoto Central Zone, Alhaji Yahaya Buhari Siriddawa, added that such philanthropy had not been witnessed in over three decades, stressing that it would fast-track development in the state.

Other leaders, including Kware Local Government Chairman Ibrahim Attahiru Ruggar Gwiwa, lawmaker Ibrahim Dust, and Commissioner for Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship, Abba Muhammad Mu’alledi, praised the initiative and urged beneficiaries to use the items for their intended purposes.

Beneficiaries, including men, women, and social media coordinators, expressed appreciation, saying the tricycles and food items would boost their livelihoods.

Senator Wamakko’s program, they said, goes beyond material distribution, representing a long-term effort to promote self-sufficiency and grassroots development in Sokoto State.
