The human body is the structure of a human being. It is composed of many different types of cells that together create tissues and subsequently organ systems. They ensure homeostasis and the viability of the human body. It comprises a head, neck, trunk (which includes the thorax and abdomen), arms and hands, legs and feet. However, The human body is a strange and fascinating place and so much of it still remains a mystery to us. Here are 5 shocking things you most likely do not know about your body.

1. Just like finger print, every person has a unique tongue print: The tongue is a unique organ in that can perform lots of function. The tongue has its own unique thumbprint and can be stuck out of mouth for inspection. The tongue also presents both geometric shape: information and physiological texture information which are potentially useful in identity verification applications. Furthermore, the act of physically reaching or thrusting out is a convincing proof for the liveliness.

2. Lack of sleep kills faster than starvation: insufficient sleep itself affects the body a lot. Diminished cognitive and motor performance, impaired memory, blunted alertness, and an increased risk of injury are effects of insufficient sleep. Research shows that 264 hours is the longest human can go without sleep, which is about 11 days. However, research shows that human can go 21 days without food.

3. Humans are taller in the morning: study shows that throughout the day, the cartilage between your bones is compressed, making you about 1 cm shorter by day’s end.

4. Women are better smellers than men: Women are better than men at smelling stuff and researchers are just starting to know why. A research published in PLOS ONE, a site where scientific studies are published, suggests it may have something to do with the fact that women have greater numbers of specialized cells associated with olfactory abilities.

5. The Brain is 80 percent water: the brain tissue is 80% of water, Optimal brain function depends on water. The amount of water which got dehydrated in a day need to be replaced, or else it may affect the brain functioning.
