Opta Forecasts USA to Clinch Fifth World Cup Title, Nigeria’s Super Falcons Rank 26th

According to the predictions made by British sports analytics company Opta, the United States, a four-time World Cup champion, is tipped to secure its fifth title in this year’s tournament, which will take place in Australia and New Zealand.

Opta’s supercomputer analysis places the USA as the frontrunners to claim victory, with an estimated 21.6% chance of lifting the trophy. However, despite being the reigning champions of Europe, England is ranked second with a 16.9% probability, facing the challenge of missing some key players due to injuries.

Spain, boosted by the return of Ballon d’Or winner Alexia Putellas, is given a 21.9% chance of making it to the final and an 11.3% shot at glory. Nevertheless, their journey is set against the backdrop of a dispute over their working conditions. Germany and France are closely ranked after Spain.

In a surprising prediction, Nigeria’s Super Falcons are placed in a distant 26th position, making them unlikely contenders to win the global tournament Down Under.

Australia stands as the sixth-favorite with a 5.88% chance of triumph, ranking higher than notable footballing nations like the Netherlands, Sweden, and Brazil. Meanwhile, co-hosts New Zealand hold a mid-range position at 17th in the predictions.
