Revenue: BIRS Will Meet N2 Billion Target in Six months, Acting Chairman Assures

The Acting Chairman, Benue State Internal Revenue Service, BIRS, Mr Emmanuel Agema has assured that efforts are being stepped up to meet Two Billion Naira target in revenue generation within six months.

Mr Agema who gave this assurance in an interview with Day Break in Makurdi said he blocked all the leakages that were hindering revenue generation of the state.

The Chairman noted that the service under his watch has overhauled the entire structure to enable him bring on board, people of proven integrity who would help him deliver the mandate given to him by the Governor.

“When I came on board about a month ago, as an insider and someone who has been in this service for a period of time, I swung into action by blocking all the leakages that were hindering revenue generation of the state.

I went on to overhaul the entire structure to enable me put on board people of proven integrity that will help me deliver the mandate given to me by His Excellency, Rev Fr Hyacinth Alia.”

He stated that plans are underway to broaden the tax base of the state to bring tax areas that were not captured in the past. “I intend to within the period of six months push revenue generation two billion naira by God’s grace.”‘

The Chairman pointed out that he would train and retrain staff as well as accord staff welfare topmost priority to achieve maximum result.

The service’s Helmsman enjoined Benue citizens to support the present administration led by, Rev Fr Hyacinth Alia to enable him achieve set goals.
