Chief of Defense Staff (CDS), General Christopher G. Musa has paid a familiarization visit to the leadership of the Supreme Council of Islamic Affairs at the National Mosque in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja on Friday September 1, 202$.
The military Chief said the essence of his visit is to strengthen the relationship between the Nigerian armed forces and religious leaders across the country.
The CDS, according to statement made available to our Kaduna correspondent Friday explained that the military remains committed to the protection of lives and property of Nigerians irrespective of tribe or religion.
He added that the military is nonpartisan and apolitical and will do everything possible to protect the territorial integrity of the country from external aggression.
He called on religious leaders in Nigeria to use the position given to them to foster the peace and unity needed for the socioeconomic development of the country.
He also noted that it is only through peace that development can be achieved.
The Chief Imam of the Central Mosque, Sheikh Professor Ibrahim Ahmad Maqari, and other Imams in attendance, appreciated the military chief for the visit and said that all the Imams in the Central Mosque and other mosques in the FCT, are promoters of peace in their sermons and everything they do.
The members of the council assured the CDS that they would continue to pray for peace in the country.
