The sad news of the passing of Alhaji Mansur Nuhu Bamalli, who served as Nigeria’s Ambassador to Morocco and held the title of Magajin Garin Zazzau, has been confirmed.
Alhaji Mansur Nuhu Bamalli, who was also the younger brother of the Emir of Zazzau, breathed his last in a private hospital in Lagos while en route to Morocco. The Zazzau emirate council’s Media and Publicity officer issued a statement confirming his demise, with details regarding funeral arrangements to follow at a later time.
The late Ambassador is survived by his wife and two children. He was appointed by former President Muhammadu Buhari a year ago, in recognition of his many decades of meritorious service within the Nigerian Foreign Service.
A letter dated October 7, signed by the then Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama, conveyed the appointment and extended felicitations to Ambassador Bamalli. Prior to his ambassadorial role, he served as a deputy director at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
It’s noteworthy that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs had previously issued a notice for the recall of Nigerian ambassadors, encompassing both career and non-career diplomats posted to over 300 foreign missions globally. Nevertheless, logistical matters, including Authority to Incur Expenditures (AIEs) for their return journeys, have delayed their homecoming.
AIEs encompass the specific details regarding each envoy’s entitlements for their return travel to Nigeria, including passages and other related arrangements.
