Gov Eno releases additional N1.5bn for workers’ gratuities

Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom has  directed the immediate  release of an additional N1.5bn  for payment of outstanding gratuities of retired workers in the state.
Eno had earlier released N5.3bn  for retired workers bringing the total to N6.8bn in the last six months.
Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr Ekerete Udoh said yesterday in Uyo that this was a further confirmation of the Governor’s resolve to fulfill his pact with workers in the State.
The Governor had promised during his campaign to continue paying backlog of gratuity from where his immediate predecessor in office stopped.
Few weeks ago, an additional one month salary otherwise called 13th month salary was approved for civil servants in the State to enable workers enjoy the yelutide.
Eno had in under six months in office, touched on the critical pillars of the ARISE Agenda, especially in rural development, education, healthcare, security and infrastructural maintenance.
