The organizers of the second China International Import Expo (CIIE) are now doing everything they can to guarantee a smooth event as this year’s installment approaches.
To cope with increased visitor traffic, Shanghai, the host city of the CIIE, will offer 17 temporary parking lots around the venue, six more than last year. Additionally, capacity of Shanghai Metro’s Line 2 has been enhanced, and Line 17 and Line 10 also shortened departure intervals during peak hours.
Furthermore, many bus routes are expected to increase their capacity during the mega event, and 100 emergency vehicles will be on standby.
To meet the catering demand during the second CIIE, six temporary food supply stations will be established across the city, offering as many as 40,000 meals per day. Two further stations will stand by as a supplement.
A featured snack restaurant near the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai), the venue of the CIIE, has finished renovation and started trial operation. Twenty-seven catering brands, including time-honored ones, have been introduced to the restaurant, three more than during the previous event.
Regarding the environmental impact of the event, the China International Import Expo Bureau has created a garbage sorting scheme for the CIIE, providing over 2,000 exclusive waste containers and 12 garbage vehicles to ensure the sound implementation of garbage sorting.
At present, Shanghai’s air quality is ranked as good or excellent for 82.9 percent of the year. According to the Shanghai Municipal Bureau of Ecology and Environment, a stricter plan is in the making to ensure the environment of Shanghai becomes more beautiful.
