JUST IN: Court remands Fubara’s loyalists over Rivers Assembly explosion

A Federal High Court in Abuja has remanded five loyalists of Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara over their alleged involvement in the explosion that occurred at the Rivers State Assembly complex. The incident took place amid reported attempts by some lawmakers to impeach Governor Fubara on October 30, 2023. The accused individuals, including Chime Eguma Ezebalike, Prince Lukman Oladele, Kenneth Goodluck Kpasa, Osiga Donald, and Ochueja Thankgod, faced seven charges, which included terrorism offenses related to invading, vandalizing, and burning down the assembly during a political crisis. The defendants pleaded not guilty, and their bail applications are scheduled for a hearing on February 2, with remand in Kuje Prison until then.
