Marriage at an Older Age Wasn’t Just a Choice”: Blessing Obasi Speaks Out Against Late Marriage Stigma

Nollywood actress, Blessing Obasi, is shedding light on the stigma surrounding late marriage.

The renowned movie star, who tied the knot later in life to her younger colleague, Stan Nze, revealed that her decision wasn’t merely a choice but a journey of self-discovery, resilience, and breaking free from societal expectations that sought to dictate her happiness.

She shared how the pressure and stigma felt like unwelcome shadows, whispering doubts and casting long, lonely nights. Yet, in those moments of solitude, she found strength and realized that love isn’t a race, and marriage isn’t a trophy for early achievement.

Blessing emphasized the importance of understanding that a woman’s worth shouldn’t be equated with her marital status. She encouraged her fans to embrace their own paths and timelines.

She expressed, “You know, I had to jump on this conversation because, after several years of feeling like an outsider in a world that often equates a woman’s worth with her marital status, I’ve finally stepped into a chapter that I crafted on my own terms.”

“Getting married at an older age wasn’t just a choice; it was a journey of self-discovery, resilience, and breaking free from societal norms that tried to dictate my happiness.”

She further shared, “The pressure and stigma were like unwelcome shadows, whispering doubts and casting long, lonely nights. But in those moments of solitude, I found strength. I learned that love isn’t a race, nor is marriage a trophy for early achievement.”

“So here I am, not a bride of youthful naivety, but a woman adorned in the wisdom of her years, ready to embark on a shared journey of love, respect, and partnership. And to those still walking their path, remember: your life, your pace, your story. Embrace it.”

Blessing Obasi has previously addressed her late marriage. In 2022, she emphasized that age is just a number when it comes to matters of the heart.

She shared in an interview that she never expected to marry someone from the entertainment industry due to her perception of unfaithfulness among men in that field. However, her husband proved her wrong.

Blessing Obasi and Stan Nze are happily married, and they welcomed their first child, a baby boy, in 2023.

In September 2022, the couple hinted at marital challenges after a controversial incident on their first anniversary. However, they overcame it, and on their second anniversary, they announced their pregnancy journey, sharing emotional moments with their fans on their YouTube channel.
