BREAKING: Electoral Act Amendment Bill Passes Second Reading

In a significant development, the Electoral Act Amendment Bill has been approved for Second Reading by the House of Representatives on Wednesday.

The bill, titled “A Bill for an Act to amend the Electoral Act, 2022 and for Related Matters,” was presented by Mr. Francis Waive, representing Ughelli North/Ughelli South/Udu Federal Constituency, Delta State.

In his presentation, Waive highlighted the shortcomings of the current Electoral Act of 2022 and stressed the importance of amending the law to accommodate electronic transmission of results, thereby enhancing the nation’s democracy.

Additionally, he advocated for a periodic review of the voter register every ten years, emphasizing its significance in ensuring the integrity of the electoral process.
