Military Special Task Force Commends Officers for Rejecting N1.5m Bribe

The Military Special Task Force responsible for maintaining peace in Plateau State has commended eight personnel of Operation Safe Haven for their integrity and bravery in rejecting a N1.5 million bribe offered by suspected cattle rustlers.

According to Capt. Oya James, the spokesman for the task force, the personnel, deployed at OPSH Sector 4, intercepted 30 rustled cows at the Bisichi checkpoint in Barkin Ladi local government area. The cattle, belonging to Shehu Umar, were stolen in Mangu and were being transported to an undisclosed location when the troops conducted a stop-and-search operation and intercepted them.

Upon interception, the occupants of the vehicle, Anas Usman (20 years old) and Gyang Cholly (42 years old), attempted to bribe the troops to secure passage for the stolen cattle. However, the personnel upheld their duty and rejected the bribe, leading to the arrest of the suspects and confiscation of the bribe money.

Maj. Gen. Abubakar, the commander of Operation Safe Haven, presented a cash reward to the exemplary personnel, praising their commitment to duty and urging other security personnel to emulate their conduct. Represented by Brig. Gen. M.O. Agi, the Chief of Staff of OPSH, the commander emphasized the importance of integrity and bravery in the discharge of responsibilities, encouraging all personnel to uphold these values.
