Must read

Today, President Bola Tinubu will inaugurate significant projects in Minna, including the newly renamed Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Airport, Minna, and agricultural initiatives aimed at boosting the region’s economy.

Originally commissioned by former military Head of State Ibrahim Babangida in 1990, the Minna International Airport has undergone extensive renovations and will now serve as a fully operational domestic terminal following its closure due to runway issues.

In addition to the airport, Tinubu will unveil plans for an agro-processing zone spanning 2,000 hectares, with 1,000 hectares allocated for drip irrigation and greenhouses, and another 1,000 hectares dedicated to dairy processing.

Governor Umar Bago of Niger State highlighted the economic significance of these projects, emphasizing their potential to streamline cattle transportation and create employment opportunities while enhancing the agricultural value chain.

The agro-processing zone will benefit from infrastructure developments, including 140 kilometers of water irrigation channels connected to the Shiroro Dam, and the introduction of 80 megawatts of power to the airport vicinity.

Tinubu’s visit to Minna will also include meetings with former heads of state Ibrahim Babangida and Abdulsalami Abubakar, underscoring the importance of collaboration and development in the region.
