Commodore Aiwuyor Adams-Aliu has been appointed as the new spokesperson for the Nigerian Navy by the Chief of the Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla. He succeeds Rear Admiral Adedotun Ayo-Vaughan in this role.
A statement released by Rear Admiral J.D. Akpan, Chief of Policy and Plans, announced the appointment, stating that Rear Admiral Ayo-Vaughan has been redeployed to Headquarters Naval Training Command as the Chief Staff Officer.
Commodore Adams-Aliu, hailing from a family with a journalistic background, brings a wealth of experience to his new position. He attended Shepherd Hill Primary School and Kings College Lagos before joining the Nigerian Defence Academy in 1995. After earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry in 1999, he was commissioned into the Nigerian Navy in 2000 as part of the 47 Regular Course.
Throughout his career, Adams-Aliu has undergone various professional courses, including the Captain Career Course at the United States Army Infantry School in Atlanta and the Junior and Senior Staff Courses at the Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Jaji. He also graduated from the Naval War College Nigeria in 2018 and the United States Naval War College in 2019.
Adams-Aliu has served in various capacities within the Nigerian Navy, including as Watch Keeping Officer onboard different Nigerian Navy Ships, a military observer in the United Nations Mission in Liberia, Officer in Charge of the Nigerian Navy Ship BENIN, Squadron Commander of SHALDAG Boat squadron, and the Pioneer Commanding Officer of Nigerian Navy Ship KARADUWA.
