Just In: Super Falcons Secure Victory Against South Africa in Olympic Qualifiers

In a tightly contested match at the Moshood Abiola Stadium in Abuja, the Super Falcons of Nigeria emerged victorious with a narrow 1-0 win over their continental rivals, South Africa, in the first leg of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games football qualifiers.

Captain Rasheed Ajibade’s crucial goal in the 43rd minute proved to be the difference maker, as Randy Waldrum’s squad held off South Africa’s attempts to equalize throughout the second half.

With this important win, the Falcons now hold a slender lead heading into the second leg scheduled to take place in Pretoria on Tuesday, April 9th. They will need to maintain their advantage to secure their spot in the Olympic Games in Paris.

The outcome of this highly anticipated tie will determine which team advances to represent Africa in the prestigious global event.
