Call for Enhanced Tech Education to Drive Industrialization: Provost Urges Federal Government

By   Milcah   Tanimu

Dr. Jagboro Olushola, the Provost of Kogi State College of Education, Technical, Mopa, has urged the federal government to broaden the scope of vocational and technical education in tertiary institutions as a catalyst for igniting the nation’s industrialization.

Emphasizing the pivotal role of technical and vocational education in engaging the country’s youth population, Dr. Jagboro highlighted the significance of preparing young people for careers in agriculture, business, home economics, and technical fields. Speaking during the Nigeria Education Merit Award (NEMA) ceremony held at the institution’s premises in Kabba over the weekend, she underscored the necessity for governments to prioritize funding for technical education.

Dr. Jagboro further urged the National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE) to collaborate with relevant agencies to secure autonomy for Technical Colleges of Education, enabling them to confer degrees on their graduates in the near future.

Reflecting on the challenges encountered during her tenure over the past eight years, Dr. Jagboro expressed gratitude to her management team for their unwavering support, which fueled her determination. She extended appreciation to the former Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, for entrusting her with the role of provost.

Additionally, Dr. Jagboro commended Governor Usman Ododo for his notable achievements within a short period in office and pledged continued support and allegiance to his administration.

During the event, Ayodele Temidayo Asiwaju, the National Coordinator of NEMA, recognized Dr. Jagboro Victoria Olushola as the Best Provost in the North-Central region for the year 2024.
