The National Orientation Agency, NOA, on Wednesday has called entries from Nigerians for entries for the production of indigenous melody and instrumentation for the new National Anthem.

The is as the agency unveiled the new version of the National Anthem Act signed into Law on the 29th May, 2024 by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

NOA has also called for entries for the production of authentic Nigerian melody embedded in the indigenous instrumentation of the Nigerian people.

The Director General of NOA, Mallam Lanre Issa- Onilu in a press briefing highlighted the need to give clarity concerning questions and doubts surrounding the lyrics of new National Anthem.

He said, “the new National Anthem is part of Nigeria’s national symbol to promote unity, preserve and foster the integrity of the national cohesion that makes citizens have a sense of patriotism.”

Issa- Onilu disclosed that the National Anthem is a part of the National Identity project of the Tinubu’s administration, as one of the seven programmes for the institutionalization of our core values.”

While giving clarity to some parts of the National Anthem, NOA called the attention of citizens to some stanzas in the Anthem.

NOA said, ” We call the attention of Nigerians to line three of the first stanza, which reads: Though tribes and tongues may differ . Note that the words “tribes” and tongues àre plural. We want you to also note line five of the first stanza reads: Nigerians all proud to serve . The word, “are” , “not” and, is correct.”
