Bayelsa Govt Assures Land Owners Of Adequate Compensation

As a way of ensuring that due process is complied with as regards land acquisition, administration and other related issues on land ownership across Bayelsa State, the Commissioner for Lands and Survey, Bar. Perepuighe Biewari has assured the public of adequate compensation for any land it acquires from the original owners of land for public use.

Hon. Biewari stated this when members of United Correspondents Chapel paid him a courtesy visit at his office in Ovom, Yenagoa,

Biewari noted that proper administration and documentation of the land requested by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, (NDLEA) for the building of its modern office complex in the state is underway, adding that the process will soon be completed.

He emphasized the importance of NDLEA in the state as it will go a long way to encourage men and officers of the agency to effectively discharge thier duties in the state, stressing that it will ultimately lead to the curbing of drug intake and abuse particularly among the youths in the state.

He also pointed out that other federal parastatals had also requested for the acquisition of land to build their office complex in the state, noting that his ministry is working out all the necessary modalities in line with stipulated guidelines for the completion of the documents before handing over the land officially.

He hinted that his ministry is poised to partner with the media in the proper dissemination of its activities to the public.

Earlier, the Chairman of United Correspondents Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Mr.Akam James commended the Commissioner for resolving the issue of the 10 hectares of land allocated to NDLEA by the State Government on assumption of office.

The Chairman thanked Senator Douye Diri for appointing Biewari as Commissioner for lands and Survey , adding that with his years of experience in the Bar , he will carry out his functions effectively in the ministry.

He also noted that, the visit was conceived to familiarise with him and see how to forge a good working relationship in order to disseminate information and activities of the Ministry as land is the most critical factor in the development of any society.
