This opening encounter is expected to be a significant challenge as the Super Falcons face one of the tournament’s strongest contenders. The team has been preparing intensely and is determined to make a strong start in their Olympic campaign.

The officiating crew for the match includes referee Yu-Jeong Kim, with Mi-Suk Park and Joanna Kate Charaktis serving as Assistant Referees. Jelena Cvetković will be the fourth official, and the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) responsibilities will be managed by Kate Jacewicz, with Ivan Bebek as Assistant VAR.

Historically, Brazil has had the upper hand in their previous encounters with Nigeria, having won both matches at full time. The Super Falcons will be aiming to turn the tide in this crucial opener.

Earlier in the day, Spain and Japan, the other teams in Group C, will face off at 4 PM.

The opening day of the Women’s Olympic Football Tournament Paris 2024 promises to be action-packed, with host nation France taking on Colombia, and world champions Spain squaring off against Japan in a rematch of their FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 group-stage meeting, which Japan won 4-0. Additionally, Germany will play against Australia, and teams like the USA, Brazil, and Canada will also be in action.
