Sanwo-Olu Commended As Lagos Red Line Rail Begins Partial Operations

The Convener of Campaign for Dignity in Governance, Razaq Olokoba has applauded Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu following the start of partial operations of the Lagos Mass Transit Red Line Rail.

Olokoba, in a statement issued on Sunday, described the beginning of partial passengers operations of the Lagos Mass Transit Red Line Rail last Wednesday as a milestone that should make every state resident proud.

“Commencement of operations of the Lagos Mass Transit Red Line Rail should delight and make every Lagosian proud. This is because the idea of governance is to build world-class infrastructure for the people to benefit,” he said.

“The governor is showing exceptional leadership, focus determination, and tenacity to deliver landmark projects even in the face of minimal resources available to him.

“This particular rail, even though it took time before, he (Sanwo-Olu) has shown tremendous courage that he is capable of transforming the state.
“This is a signature project that he is bequeathing to Lagos people and Nigerians.”

Olokoba called on all well-meaning residents of the state to continue to support the Sanwo-Olu-led government as it strives to change the face of Lagos for good.

According to a spokesperson for the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority, Kolawole Ojelabi, the latest developmental stride of the Lagos State government is one of the six rail lines and one monorail prescribed for Lagos in her Strategic Transport Master Plan, hence the transport project will connect Lagos with Ogun State as many workers and business owners.

Ojelabi said the milestone marked the culmination of planning and training of technical and ground staff; installation of all the security features, and a successful six-week trial run conducted without passengers to ensure the system’s safety, reliability, and efficiency.

“The partial operations, similar to what was done during the test phase of the Blue Line, is a major step forward in realizing the Lagos State Government’s vision of a modern, efficient, integrated, and sustainable transportation system.

“The Red Line’s first phase, a 27-kilometer rail road from Agbado to Oyingbo, will provide a reliable and affordable transportation option for commuters, reducing traffic congestion and improving the quality of life for Lagos residents,” Ojelabi said.
