Civic Fest Africa 2024: Mr. Macaroni, Segun Arinze, and Rez Afolabi Headline Event

Seasoned content creator Mr. Macaroni and renowned actor Segun Arinze are among the headliners for the 2024 Civic Fest Africa. Additionally, they will be joined by Rez Afolabi and Andres Laguna.

The event, curated by the AdvoKC Foundation and led by Abiola Durodola, is set for October 1, 2024. Moreover, it will take place at the Lagos Theatre in Igando. The festival collaborates with various organizations, including the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Miss Teen Nigeria, Learn Politics, Amonite Kitchen, and PoliZ.

Civic Fest Africa is a youth-led civic tech organization. Its mission is to promote transparency, accountability, and citizen engagement in Nigeria through arts and technology. As Habib Sheidu, Project Lead for Civic Fest Africa, stated, “Through initiatives like Civic Fest Africa, we empower citizens and advocate for an active and informed democracy.”

Themed “Sustainable Citizenship,” the event will inspire civic consciousness among young people. Specifically, it will feature spoken word performances, music, drama, short films, panel discussions, and games.

Keynote speakers Segun Arinze and Andres Laguna will discuss “The Role of Creatives in Building Sustainable Citizenship.” In particular, they will explore how the creative industry can influence civic engagement.

Furthermore, other notable panelists include Mr. Macaroni, Enwai Ekpenyong, Ololade Ajayi, Simbiat Bakare, and Dayo Ibitoye. Additionally, featured appearances will include Rez Afolabi, Oludasa, and Ruth Mahogany. Lastly, Apostwo and Jemimah Amonahini will serve as comperes for the event.
