Eight of Nine Kidnapped Victims Rescued Unhurt by Combined Security Operatives in Kebbi

Acting on credible intelligence and demonstrating determination and resilience, a combined team of police officers, military personnel, and local vigilante members successfully rescued eight victims of the October 6, 2024, kidnapping incident in Kanya District, Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State. The victims were freed unhurt on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, at around 10:00 AM, following a gunfight in Sakaba Forest.

According to a statement by the Kebbi Police Public Relations Officer, SP Nafiu Abubakar, the rescued victims have been reunited with their families after receiving medical attention at the General Hospital, Sakaba.

Regrettably, during the search and rescue operation, the body of the district head of Kanya, Alhaji Isah Daya, was discovered in the forest.

In light of this tragedy, the Commissioner of Police, Kebbi State Command, CP Bello M. Sani, extended his condolences to the Kebbi State Government, Zuru Emirate, the family of the late district head, and his well-wishers. He prayed for the repose of Alhaji Isah Daya’s soul in Jannatul Firdaus.

The Commissioner also called on the public to assist the command and other security agencies by providing relevant information that could lead to the arrest of those responsible for this heinous act.
