Labour Party state chairmen from Nigeria’s North Central region have reaffirmed their strong support for the National Chairman, Julius Abure, pledging to assist him in advancing the party.

The chairmen also congratulated Abure on his victory at the Federal High Court in Abuja, which validated the March 2024 national convention in Nnewi and confirmed his position as the party’s national chairman. This was revealed in a press statement issued on Wednesday by the Labour Party’s National Vice Chairman for the North Central Zone, Ibrahim Idoko.

Idoko praised the court’s ruling as a reflection of Nigeria’s robust legal system and the Labour Party’s commitment to democratic values. He commended Justice Emeka Nwite for issuing an order that required the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to recognize the Abure-led leadership.

The statement from Idoko read, “The Forum of Chairmen of the North Central, comprising Abuja, Benue, Nasarawa, Niger, Kogi, Kwara, and Plateau, under the leadership of Ibrahim Idoko, the National Vice Chairman, North Central of LP, wishes to congratulate our National Chairman, Julius Abure, the NWC, and the entire NEC of our great party for the victory at the Federal High Court. The court-mandated INEC to recognize the Abure-led NWC and confirmed that the Nnewi elective convention adhered to the constitutional requirements of both the party and INEC’s electoral laws.

“The October 8, 2024 judgment reaffirms Julius Abure’s leadership, and we are grateful to the judiciary for upholding the rule of law. The Labour Party remains united and focused on its mission to improve the welfare of Nigerians.”

Idoko further urged all party members to set aside their grievances and work together to secure success in the 2027 general elections.

“We call on all aggrieved members and those wishing to join the party to unite under the Abure-led leadership as we prepare to rescue Nigeria in the 2027 elections,” he added.
