Former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose has issued a warning to governors following recent remarks made by Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike. Fayose asserted that governors who maintain control over their states have nothing to fear from Wike’s threats.

This statement arises after Wike cautioned Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governors to steer clear of party affairs in Rivers State. He also warned against supporting Rivers Governor Sim Fubara in attempts to seize control of party structures within the state.

During an appearance on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics, Fayose addressed Wike’s threats. He argued that a strong and transparent governor should be unfazed by political disruptions. “As a sitting governor, I had nothing to hide,” Fayose stated. “If a governor or former governor says he will set fire in my state, it indicates either I am not strong at home or I have lost control.”

Fayose emphasized that confidence in managing state affairs is crucial for preventing external interference. “The moment you have a grip on your state, you have nothing to fear,” he asserted. “However, if you lack control, you will inevitably face significant challenges.”

Wike, known for his aggressive political strategies, reportedly declared at a PDP congress in Port Harcourt that he would instigate a crisis if any PDP governor interfered in the party’s dynamics in Rivers State.

Fayose’s response underscores the critical need for robust leadership among governors to effectively counter such threats and maintain political stability.
