Kanayo O. Kanayo: Men Must Provide in Relationships

By  Milcah  Tanimu

Nollywood actor Kanayo O. Kanayo has voiced his opinion on the responsibilities of men in relationships, highlighting the essential role of provision. In a recent video posted on his social media account on October 13, 2024, he criticized the trend of men relying on women for financial support, labeling it “useless and dangerous.”

Kanayo stated, “I woke up this morning disturbed by a trend that I find useless and dangerous. When a man depends on a woman to feed him, the most troubling aspect is that women often feel compelled to defend their husbands, preventing outside awareness of their struggles. This dependency can be detrimental to a man’s progress.”

The veteran actor further emphasized the importance of family dynamics, asserting that every man has a responsibility to provide for his family. He remarked, “A man who cannot take care of his family is lacking. A man who cannot feed his family has no business using his private parts on a woman. It is your responsibility, yet women often try to cover for their husbands.”

In addition to addressing men, Kanayo offered advice to women, urging them to carefully consider their marital choices. He cautioned that defending their partners might inadvertently encourage irresponsibility. “This is advice to women: know who you marry. While love is important, provision is key. If he loses his job and remains inactive at home without making efforts to hustle like other men, it is crucial not to excuse this behavior,” he explained.

Kanayo’s remarks aim to provoke thought on the expectations of men in relationships and the potential consequences of financial dependency.
