Controversial social media personality, Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, has claimed that he received a call from the presidency following the launch of his new Non-Governmental Organization (NGO). Otse announced that the NGO will focus on community development and improving public schools across Nigeria.
In a video shared via his Instagram page, @verydarkblackman, on Saturday, the activist appealed for support from influential figures such as Davido and Cubana Chief Priest, pledging transparency and accountability in the handling of donations.
On Sunday, Otse revealed that his NGO had received over N33 million in donations within 24 hours, with contributions continuing to pour in. He expressed gratitude to donors, many of whom contributed small amounts, highlighting their willingness to support the cause despite financial challenges.
In a follow-up post, Otse sarcastically claimed that he had received a call from the presidency praising his initiative. He humorously suggested that the government might ask him for financial assistance, given the recent borrowing spree by the federal government.
“Something crazy just happened. I received a call from the Presidency about my NGO. They said they like what I’m doing with public schools. I imagine they’ll soon be borrowing from me since they’ve been borrowing money everywhere,” Otse remarked, referencing the Tinubu administration’s loans, which reportedly amount to $6.45 billion from the World Bank in just 16 months.
Otse also vowed to increase transparency within Nigerian NGOs as part of his new project, stating, “I’ll expose shady NGOs in this country. Stay tuned.”
