Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has heaped praise on 17-year-old Ethan Chidiebere Nwaneri, the promising midfielder who scored a stunning goal in Arsenal’s Carabao Cup win over Preston North End. Nwaneri, who debuted in the English Premier League last season as its youngest-ever player, has earned more playtime this season, showcasing his skills and gaining the trust of teammates.
After the game, Arteta expressed his admiration for Nwaneri’s performance, calling him “a big talent” with the “right attitude.” His impact on the pitch, highlighted by his composed goal in the 33rd minute, secured Arsenal’s advantage after Gabriel Jesus opened the scoring.
Nwaneri, born in London to Nigerian parents, is eligible to represent Nigeria’s Super Eagles. However, he has played for England’s youth teams since the U-16 level, hinting at a potential preference for the Three Lions.
As Nwaneri’s profile continues to rise, fans from both Nigeria and England are eager to see where his international future lies.
