Nigeria has emerged as one of the top countries for daily social media usage, with the latest 2024 data ranking it fifth worldwide in average time spent online.
According to a report by Cable.co.uk and We Are Social, shared by World of Statistics on X, Nigerians spend an average of 3 hours and 23 minutes daily on social platforms. This figure places Nigeria among the most engaged users globally.
Kenya tops the list, with an impressive daily social media usage of 3 hours and 43 minutes. South Africa follows with 3 hours and 37 minutes, Brazil at 3 hours and 34 minutes, and the Philippines at 3 hours and 33 minutes.
Nigeria’s position just behind these countries highlights the country’s strong social media engagement. Other nations with high average daily usage include Colombia (3:22), Chile (3:11), and Indonesia (3:11). Completing the top ten are Saudi Arabia (3:10) and Argentina (3:08).
Countries with notably lower averages include Ghana (2:43), Egypt (2:41), and Thailand (2:30). In Europe, social media use is lower, with Portugal (2:23), Romania (2:20), and Italy (2:17) showing shorter daily engagement times.
