Ademola Lookman played a pivotal role in Atalanta’s impressive 3-0 victory over Serie A leaders Napoli at the Diego Maradona Stadium on Sunday.
Ten minutes into the match, the Nigeria international volleyed in the opener from close range after escaping the attention of the Napoli defense. Just past the half-hour mark, Lookman struck again with a powerful shot from outside the box.
With his two goals, Lookman raised his tally against Napoli to four goals in five Serie A appearances. This performance places Napoli alongside Fiorentina as his favorite opponents in terms of goals scored, as he has also netted four times against the Purples.
This brace against Napoli marked Lookman’s second away brace in Serie A, with his first occurring against Juventus at the Allianz Stadium on January 22, 2023.
Including his hat-trick in the 2024 Europa League final, Lookman has directly contributed to 28 goals (17 goals and 11 assists) since the start of 2024, more than any other player in Serie A.
According to the official Serie A match report, Lookman led the matchday eleven statistics with the most shots overall (3), key passes (3), and shots on target (2).
