The Operation “Fushin Kada” Tracking and Response Team successfully apprehended three members of a notorious kidnapping syndicate terrorizing the Kaduna-Abuja highway and neighboring areas, according to a statement from the Kaduna State Police Command.

The statement, signed by command spokesperson Mansir Hassan and released to the press on Friday, detailed the operation, which was based on credible technical intelligence.

“On 5th November 2024, at approximately 18:35 hours, the Operation Fushin Kada Tracking and Response Team acted on solid intelligence to arrest three members of a kidnapping syndicate that has been operating along the Kaduna-Abuja highway and in other surrounding states,” the statement read.

The suspects, identified as Muhammad Lawal Abubakar (40), Abubakar Isah (40), and Samaila Saidu (65), were detained in an intelligence-led operation, during which police recovered an AK-47 rifle with an empty magazine.

During interrogation, the suspects reportedly admitted their involvement in the kidnapping syndicate that has instilled fear among residents and travelers on the Kaduna-Abuja Expressway. The police noted that the syndicate is connected to multiple violent incidents across the region.

The suspects are now cooperating with authorities, providing information that could lead to further arrests of syndicate members and the recovery of additional firearms held by the group.

Commissioner of Police Ibrahim Abdullahi praised the operatives’ diligence and urged the public to stay vigilant, reporting any suspicious activities. He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to protecting lives and property, emphasizing the deployment of all available resources to dismantle criminal networks in the state.
