Kefiano Foundation Transforms JUTH’s Accident and Emergency Unit in Honor of Late Mother

By Israel Adamu, Jos

A philanthropist, Chief Kefas Wungak Ropshik, has renovated and equipped the Accident and Emergency (A&E) Unit of the Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH) with ultra-modern, state-of-the-art equipment to enhance healthcare service delivery and ensure prompt response to emergencies.

Our correspondent reports that the renovated unit has been named the **Nana Rhoda Danladi Accident and Emergency Unit** in memory of his late mother.

Speaking at the commissioning, Chief Kefas Ropshik, the chairman of Kefiano Motors and founder of Kefiano Global Foundation, pledged to cover the medical expenses of the first 34 patients treated at the unit with a donation of ₦5 million.

He stated, “The first 34 individuals admitted to the unit will receive treatment free of charge.”

The philanthropist also promised to provide monthly financial support to cover essential supplies, such as hand gloves and other items, to prevent delays in treatment.

Hon. Ropshik emphasized his commitment to supporting those in need, stating:
> “This initiative is not merely a charitable act; it is the embodiment of a deeply personal journey—one that began with my mother’s love, her sacrifices, her struggles, and, ultimately, her untimely departure.”

He commended the Chief Medical Director (CMD) of JUTH, Dr. Pokop Buptwada, for his proactive approach to emergency cases. Ropshik highlighted the dedication shown by Dr. Buptwada and the head of the A&E unit during his late mother’s illness.

“This project is not just a token of our love for philanthropy but a reflection of our recognition that we all have a role to play in strengthening society. Healthcare is a basic human right. While our government is doing its best, they cannot shoulder this responsibility alone. We must lend a helping hand,” he added.

The Executive Governor of Plateau State, represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Arc. Samuel Nanchang Jatau, praised Chief Ropshik for his humanitarian efforts.

Governor Caleb Mutfwang lauded the renovation of the unit, describing it as a significant boost to JUTH’s healthcare services. He reiterated the state government’s commitment to ensuring quality and affordable healthcare for the people of Plateau State.

“Our administration is determined to deliver improved healthcare services, and this gesture will undoubtedly complement our efforts,” the governor said.

The transformation of the A&E unit underscores the importance of public-private partnerships in addressing healthcare challenges in Nigeria.
