Kaduna Governor Uba Sani Achieves Historic Milestones in 18 Months with Lean Resources

By Achadu Gabriel, Kaduna

Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has achieved unprecedented milestones in just 18 months, despite operating with limited resources, according to Prof. Bello Ayuba, the Principal Private Secretary (PPS) to the Governor.

Speaking at an interactive session with journalists in Kaduna, Prof. Ayuba described the administration’s accomplishments as unparalleled in the state’s history. He highlighted transformative strides in security, education, infrastructure, and poverty alleviation.

Security and Peace Efforts
The Uba Sani administration has prioritized security, partnering with federal agencies and providing logistics, including 150 vehicles and 500 motorcycles, to enhance operations. The reopening of Birnin Gwari Market after a decade and Kidandan Market in Giwa Local Government are notable outcomes of peace-building efforts.

Education Revitalization
The government has built 62 new secondary schools and plans to construct 50 more to accommodate over 100,000 students. Additionally, 2,326 classrooms have been built, 707 renovated, and over 30,000 pieces of furniture provided. The administration is also establishing vocational skills centers to empower youth with industry-relevant skills.

Healthcare Transformation
Healthcare reforms include remodeling 13 general hospitals and completing the ultra-modern Specialist Hospital in Millennium City. Recently, the remodeled Dabo Lere Memorial Hospital was commissioned.

Agricultural Advancements
The “Get Back to the Farm” initiative has revitalized agriculture, supporting 41,693 smallholder farmers with seeds, fertilizers, and equipment. The government distributed 500 trucks of fertilizer and procured 12 new tractors for large-scale farming.

Economic Growth and Poverty Alleviation
Governor Sani’s administration has supported over 8,600 businesses and empowered 4,912 women through poverty alleviation programs. Infrastructure upgrades, such as the remodeling of Panteka Market, aim to boost employment and skills acquisition.

Transparency and Revenue Growth
Kaduna ranks first in transparency and accountability among Nigerian states, with a significant increase in Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), reaching ₦62.49 billion in 2024.

Community Engagement and Inclusion
Through town hall meetings and consultations, the administration ensures citizen participation in policy-making, fostering trust and voluntary tax compliance.

Prof. Ayuba concluded by emphasizing the administration’s commitment to sustainable development, economic empowerment, and good governance.
