Osimhen Praised for More Than Goals at Galatasaray

By  Milcah   Tanimu

Victor Osimhen‘s contributions at Galatasaray extend beyond his impressive goal tally. Former Fenerbahce midfielder İlker Yağcıoğlu has lauded the Nigerian striker for his positive impact on the club’s atmosphere since his summer arrival, despite not securing a move to the English Premier League.

On loan from Napoli, Osimhen has found his stride in the Turkish Super Lig, netting 10 goals and providing four assists in 13 league appearances. He has also impressed in the Europa League with 3 goals and 1 assist in just 4 matches. However, it is his infectious celebration style and strong bond with teammates and fans that have drawn praise from Yağcıoğlu.

“He celebrates like a child,” said Yağcıoğlu, referring to Osimhen’s exuberant somersaults following a teammate’s goal. “He has established a strong connection with both his teammates and the fans, and it’s incredible how quickly he has become part of Galatasaray.”

Despite rumors linking him with top Premier League clubs like Manchester United and Liverpool, Osimhen has rejected winter offers, showcasing his commitment to the Turkish side. Though he dreams of playing in the Premier League, he plans to return to Napoli after the 2024/25 season to decide on his future.

His strong sense of belonging in Istanbul and his remarkable performances on and off the pitch make Osimhen a key figure for Galatasaray, even if his stay is temporary.
