Bwari’s infrastructural development gulps over N89 Billion– Wike

The FCT Minister Barr, Nysome Wike on Friday, disclosed that infrastructural development on roads and education in the Bwari Area Council has so far gulped over 89 billion Naira.

The FCT Minister revealed this at the commissioning of the newly constructed Gabo- Tokulo 5 kilometres road in the Bwari Area Council.

Wike stated that under the Bwari Area Council alone, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has injected not less than N7 billion into Tokulo- Gaba road , adding that all contracts are back by prompt payment of funds to contractors.

This shows that the Renewed Hope or Mr. President is a reality, he emphasized.

The Tokulo- Gabo road was flagged off in January 2024 and was commissioned in one year on the 24th of January 2025 by the FCT Minister, Barr. Nyesom Wike.

According to the FCT, infrastructural developments like the total rehabilitation of entire roads from Dutse down to the new Tokulo Gabo have cost us not less than 27 billion Naira.

“Other adjoining roads from Ushafa War College, and all the roads in Ushafa, has cost us not less than 28 billion Naira.”

Now, if you calculate for just road infrastructure for Bwari area council alone, you have taken 62.2 billion Naira for Bwari area council, the minister disclosed.

Furthermore, the minister explained that a total of not less 27 billion Nairs has been spent on education in areas of rehabilitation and completion of schools namely, Government Girls Secondary School Dutse, Government Secondary School Bwari, Government Secondary School Ushafa, which is a new one, GSS Dei dei, GSS Kubwa, GSS Jibi.

Now, if you add 27 billion to 62 billion, you’re almost getting to 100 billion Naira for one area council, Wike disclosed.

Also, the minister has approved the extension of road
from Tokulo to Kawu village and streetlights from Tokulo to Gabo.

Earlier, the FCT Minister of State , Dr. Mariya Mahmoud noted that the project will improve the living standard and enhance connectivity and economic growth for the residents.

“The road and bridges will open up new opportunities for trade, education, healthcare access, and overall mobility. This is more than just infrastructure; it is a pathway to progress and prosperity, “she stated

Bwari Area Council Chairman, Dr. John Gabaya, in an emotional tone, thanked Wike for constructing a road over a river that has swallowed the villagers while crossing to their market.

Gabaya said that the road will also impact he safety of people from the manace of kidnappers.
