Joseph Olasunkanmi Tegbe, the Director-General of the Nigeria-China Strategic Partnership (NCSP), has paid a consultative visit to the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Nigeria.
According to a press statement from the agency’s media department, Tegbe, during the visit, presented a comprehensive overview of NCSP activities to His Excellency Yu Dunhai, the Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria.
The report detailed the activities and achievements of the NCSP, emphasizing its commitment to strengthening bilateral relations and fostering strategic collaboration between Nigeria and China in key sectors of mutual interest.
“This presentation reaffirms the NCSP’s dedication to information sharing, enhancing economic cooperation, infrastructure development, and technological innovation between the two nations, as highlighted in the recently established Comprehensive Strategic Partnership,” the statement noted.
This comes weeks after Tegbe visited China to enhance bilateral relations between the two nations.
During the China visit, Tegbe engaged with senior Chinese government officials and participated in strategic meetings aimed at finalizing agreements that will bolster the Nigerian economy in critical sectors such as agriculture, alternative energy, healthcare, mining, education, and technology.
In September 2024, President Bola Tinubu appointed Tegbe as Director-General of NCSP with a mandate to implement various Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) signed between China and Nigeria during the Beijing summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC). Tegbe is also tasked with promoting a deeper understanding of developmental programs between the two countries.
Some of the MoUs signed at the summit include: Cooperation on jointly promoting the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI); Peaceful application of nuclear energy; Strengthening cooperation on human resource development under the Global Development Initiative; and Media exchange and collaboration between China Media Group and the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA).
