Governor Yusuf Swears In New Commissioner For Housing Development.

By Jabiru Hassan.

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has expanded his executive council with the swearing-in of Ibrahim Yakubu Adamu as the new Commissioner for Housing Development.

In a statement issued by the governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the swearing-in ceremony, held on Monday, was conducted by the Attorney General of Kano State, Haruna Isah Dederi.

Until his appointment, Adamu served as the Managing Director of the Kano Urban Planning and Development Authority (KNUPDA).

Speaking at the event, Governor Yusuf praised the new commissioner’s expertise and significant contributions to Kano’s urban development.

He highlighted Adamu’s pivotal role in the design and development of Kwankwasiyya, Amana, and Bandirawo cities between 2013 and 2015 under the administration of Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.

“Architect Ibrahim Yakubu Adamu remains one of the finest architects we have ever had in Kano. I first met him during his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Abuja, and I was impressed by his capacity.

“At the time, as Chairman of the National Institute of Educational Planning and Administration in Ogun, I commissioned him to design infrastructure for the institute, and he exceeded expectations,” Governor Yusuf stated.

The governor also recalled Adamu’s instrumental role as Commissioner for Works and Housing from 2011 to 2015, where he played a key part in executing major housing projects.

“Adamu was instrumental in the development of Kwankwasiyya, Amana, and Bandirawo cities. When I took office as governor, I appointed him as Managing Director of KNUPDA, where he performed exceptionally well.

“It is only fitting that he now takes on a higher responsibility as a commissioner,” he added. Governor Yusuf charged the new commissioner with addressing Kano’s housing challenges, particularly those affecting civil servants.

He emphasized the need for collaboration with financial institutions and other stakeholders to expand affordable housing opportunities in the state.
