Premier League Table and Match Review After Sunday’s Fixtures

According to BBC Sport, Manchester City delivered a dominant display at the Etihad Stadium, cruising to a 3-0 victory over Liverpool in a game that underlined their Premier League title credentials and exposed glaring flaws in Liverpool’s defence.

The game began at a frenetic pace, and City were awarded a 12th-minute penalty after Jeremy Doku was brought down in the box. However, Liverpool goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili produced a brilliant save to deny Erling Haaland from the spot.

City eventually broke the deadlock in the 29th minute, when Haaland made amends by heading home a precise Matheus Nunes cross to put the hosts in front. Pep Guardiola’s men doubled their advantage just before halftime — Bernardo Silva teed up Nico O’Reilly, whose deflected strike left Mamardashvili stranded.

Liverpool thought they had pulled one back when Virgil van Dijk headed in a Mohamed Salah corner, but the goal was ruled out after a VAR review for an infringement in the buildup.

The second half saw City continue their control of possession and tempo. Their dominance was rewarded in the 63rd minute when Doku, who had been electric throughout, combined brilliantly with O’Reilly before slotting the ball clinically into the bottom corner for City’s third.

Liverpool struggled to create clear chances despite the efforts of Salah and Cody Gakpo, while Dominik Szoboszlai and Curtis Jones were both sent off late on for reckless challenges — a reflection of Liverpool’s frustration as the game slipped away.

City’s composure, pressing, and attacking precision were the key factors behind the win, strengthening their title push. Jeremy Doku was the standout performer, winning a penalty, setting up key plays, and scoring a fine goal in a performance that epitomised City’s attacking brilliance.

Full-Time: Manchester City 3–0 Liverpool
Scorers: Haaland (29’), O’Reilly (45’), Doku (63’)

Man of the Match: Jeremy Doku (Manchester City)
