Kaduna Ministry of Information to Host January 2026 Climate Hangout Forum

The Kaduna State Ministry of Information will host the January 2026 edition of the Kaduna Monthly Climate Hangout Forum, as part of efforts to strengthen climate action, stakeholder engagement, and public awareness across the state.The disclosure was made by the Head of Communications and Strategy of African Climate Reporters (ACR), Mr. Ibrahima Yakubu, in a statement issued on Friday following the December 2025 edition of the Kaduna Monthly Climate Hangout Forum held at the Interfaith Mediation Centre (IMC) in Kaduna.

Mr. Yakubu said the decision for the Ministry of Information to host the January forum reflects growing government commitment to climate advocacy, inclusive dialogue, and environmental sustainability in Kaduna State.The statement, co-signed by the Co-Directors of the Interfaith Mediation Centre, Mr. Samson Auta and Mallam Hayatu Shafa, as well as the Special Assistant to the Kaduna State Governor on Climate Change, Hon. Yusuf Idris Amoke, expressed appreciation to participants and partners who supported the December 18 climate hangout.“We are grateful to all stakeholders, partners, and participants who attended the end-of-year Climate Hangout, making it a successful and impactful event,” Yakubu said. “Your contributions and shared experiences enriched the discussions and strengthened our collective commitment to climate action and environmental sustainability in Kaduna State and beyond.”

He particularly commended the Kaduna State Ministry of Information, led by the Commissioner for Information, Mallam Ahmed Maiyaki, for its continued collaboration and support for climate communication initiatives.Yakubu also acknowledged the role of the Special Assistant to the Governor on Climate Change, Hon. Yusuf Idris Amoke, describing his leadership as instrumental in advancing climate resilience programmes and policy coordination within the state.“This platform welcomes scientists, civil society organisations, non-governmental organisations, government agencies, and development partners to engage constructively on climate solutions,” Yakubu noted.

According to him, the Kaduna Monthly Climate Hangout Forum has continued to serve as a critical platform for dialogue, bringing together experts, policymakers, journalists, and grassroots stakeholders to exchange ideas on climate mitigation, adaptation, and environmental protection.He further praised panelists and participants for their insightful contributions during the December session and expressed optimism about the January 2026 edition, which will be hosted by the Ministry of Information.

Yakubu also commended the Commissioner for Information for his proactive approach to addressing climate change challenges through public engagement and strategic communication.Special recognition was given to partners and organisations that supported the forum, including The PACE Project, represented by Mallam Abdulrahman Muhammed, Mr. Emmanuel Bonet, Mrs. Rashida Abiola Niyi, and Rev. Dr. James Movel Wuye.Other contributors acknowledged include the Association of Horticulturists, Kaduna State, the Union of Fishermen, civil society organisations working on environmental protection, climate and science journalists, and other environmental advocacy groups.Organisers said the Kaduna Monthly Climate Hangout Forum will continue to promote inclusive participation, evidence-based discussions, and policy-relevant solutions to climate challenges affecting Kaduna State and Nigeria at large.
