MultiChoice Nigeria appoints Kemi Omotosho as new CEO

MultiChoice Nigeria has announced the appointment of Kemi Omotosho as its new Chief Executive Officer, following the retirement of long-serving CEO, John Ugbe.

In a statement issued on Monday, the company said Omotosho will assume office in January 2026. Ugbe is set to retire after nearly 15 years at the helm, a period during which he steered the pay-TV company through significant industry shifts and market expansion.

Omotosho brings more than 20 years of experience spanning media, telecommunications and digital services across Nigeria and sub-Saharan Africa. She has held several senior roles within the MultiChoice Group, including Executive Head of Customer Value Management in Nigeria and Group Executive Head of Customer Value Management for the Rest of Africa.

Most recently, she served as Regional Director for Southern Africa, where she oversaw operations in seven countries.

Commenting on her appointment, Omotosho described Nigeria as a key and dynamic market for the Group, expressing optimism about the road ahead.

“It is a privilege to be entrusted with the leadership of MultiChoice Nigeria at this important moment. Nigeria remains one of the Group’s most strategic and dynamic markets,” she said.

“I look forward to working with our teams and partners to deepen our relationship with consumers, champion local storytelling and the creative economy, and build a future-ready organisation that delivers sustainable value.”

The company said the leadership transition followed a structured succession process designed to ensure continuity and long-term stability.
