Basketball promoter Igoche Mark has outlined plans to prioritise unity and development if elected president of the Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF).
Mark, founder of the Mark D’ Ball Basketball Championship, spoke with journalists in Abuja over the weekend, saying his first priority would be to bring stakeholders together to strengthen the sport’s administration. “The first thing I will do when elected as president of the NBBF is to unite the house. We must come together because a house divided against itself cannot stand,” he said. According to Mark, collaboration among administrators, players, and other stakeholders is essential to advancing basketball development in Nigeria.
He noted that Nigerians are making significant contributions to the global basketball ecosystem and stressed the need to harness that potential to grow the sport domestically. “We must be intentional in channeling our energy towards developing the game at home,” he said.
Responding to questions about his experience in sports administration, Mark said leadership of the federation would involve collective decision-making by a governing board rather than a single individual.“
Running a federation like the NBBF is not a one-man affair but a responsibility shared by the board,” he said. Mark added that, if elected, his administration would focus on building cooperation within the federation and strengthening grassroots development programmes for basketball in Nigeria.
