The Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA) has called on its members to actively participate in the 2027 general elections, while expressing concern over insecurity and the poor condition of road infrastructure across Nigeria.The resolutions were contained in a communiqué issued after the church’s 73rd General Church Council meeting held at its International Headquarters in Jos, Plateau State.
Signed by ECWA President Rev. Dr. Job Ayuba Bagat Malam and General Secretary Rev. Dr. Ayuba Asheshe, the communiqué urged eligible members to register and vote, and encouraged those interested in politics to participate responsibly. The Council also called on electoral bodies to ensure transparency and fairness, while advising citizens to remain peaceful and law-abiding during the elections.
On security, ECWA expressed concern over reported killings and kidnappings in parts of the country, urging governments at all levels to strengthen measures to protect lives and property. It also encouraged community cooperation to enhance safety. The church further highlighted concerns about deteriorating road infrastructure, calling on the Federal Government to prioritise rehabilitation and maintenance to support mobility and economic activities.
On internal matters, ECWA announced the election of Rev. Chidi Madubuko as Vice President-elect and the re-election of Rev. Dr. Ayuba Asheshe as General Secretary. The Council also approved the creation of three new district church councils and endorsed development initiatives, including projects in the Federal Capital Territory.
