A Senator representing Kogi Central, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, has directed her legal team to appeal a High Court judgment awarding N1 billion in damages to former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello.
Akpoti-Uduaghan said she disagrees with the ruling and intends to challenge it at the Court of Appeal, arguing that the court did not properly consider the evidence presented by her legal team. “We are appealing the judgment. I don’t have N1 billion,” she said, adding that the matter would be pursued through the appellate process.
The senator also expressed concern over previous allegations linked to her, which she said were made by the Kogi State Government in 2022 and published in national newspapers. The allegations reportedly connected her to terrorism-related incidents, including the Kuje prison break and the Owo church attack. She denied the claims, stating that she was outside the country when the incidents occurred and had no involvement in them.
Akpoti-Uduaghan also alleged that her political activities were targeted through security agencies, claims which have not been independently verified. She further referenced a past interview on Arise Television, insisting she had no connection to individuals mentioned in the allegations and urged that responsibility for any wrongdoing should be properly investigated.
The senator said she is still consulting on her political future and called attention to concerns about insecurity and reported cases of violence and missing persons in Kogi State. The judgment and related allegations remain subject to legal processes.
