PAAU Vice-Chancellor Seeks Resolution of Alumni Dispute, Sets One-Month Timeline

From Noah Ocheni, Lokoja

The Vice-Chancellor of Prince Abubakar Audu University (PAAU), Anyigba, Prof. Salisu Usman Ogbo, has called for a swift resolution of divisions within the institution’s Alumni Association, describing the situation as a setback to the university’s progress.

Ogbo made the remarks while receiving a report from a committee set up to address the dispute. He said the prolonged disagreements have limited the alumni body’s ability to contribute effectively to the university’s development.

The Vice-Chancellor directed that the committee be converted into an implementation body to oversee the execution of its recommendations. He tasked members with organising a general congress, conducting credible elections, and producing a unified leadership in line with the association’s constitution. He set a one-month deadline for completing the reconciliation and transition process, stressing the need to restore stability and credibility.

Ogbo added that while the university management is a stakeholder, it will not interfere in the internal leadership of the alumni association. Presenting the report, Dr. Henry Anibe Agbonika, representing the committee chairman, Muizudeen Yunus Abdullahi (SAN), said the panel recommended measures to harmonise all factions into a single structure.

He noted that the association’s 2009 constitution, registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission, remains the legal framework guiding its operations. The committee assured the university of a transparent and inclusive process.
