STREET TRADERS SEND SOS TO GOVERNOR AYADE

Traders in Watt market and the adjoining park/market have sent a Save Our Soul, SOS, message to help them from the hands of the Commissioner of Environment, Mr. Mfon Bassey.

It will be recalled that the Commissioner had given the traders a one (1) week ultimatum to clear their wares from the roadside and all containers to be removed from the Etim Edem park one of the largest parks in the centre of Calabar.

According to the Commissioner, Mfon Bassey who addressed the traders on January 3, 2020. The demolition order and quit order were issued so as to stop street trading and indiscriminate erection of illegal structure that is defacing the city.

Meanwhile, the traders are appealing to the Governor for intervention “This is our only source of livelihood, we pay our taxes to the Government from here” they added.
