Kaduna govt. restate commitment to end security challenges

Kaduna State Government, says it will not relent in its efforts to address security challenges across the state and ensure lasting peace in all communities.

The Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, made this known at a meeting with Fulani, Chawai and Iregwe community leaders in Kauru Local Government Area of the state.

The meeting, which also involved security agencies, followed security breaches in the area within the last one week.

Aruwan said the meeting was part of government efforts at sustainable peace advocacy, to encourage communities to appreciate one another, forgive each other and cooperate in ensuring peace in their communities.

“We are here to reiterates the position of Kaduna state government and to also apeal for peace and stability in Kauru local government area of the state .

“We are here to spread the message of peace,  understanding and tolerance; we are doing this in view of what is happening in and around our state.”

Aruwan stressed that no community would prosper and have meaningful development without peace.

He therefore called on them not to take laws into their hands, but always report to the government and relevant authorities whenever there were issues likely to cause instability.

In his remarks, Mr Joshua Amadu, District Head of Chawai, expressed appreciation for the meeting, saying it was an opportunity to appraise the issues on ground and proper solutions, so that permanent peace will return to the area.

On their part, leader of the Fulani community, Ardo Garkuwa, and Mr David Rovo, reiterated the need to work together and bring out bad eggs in all communities.

They noted the need to call the youth to order, but added that providing the youth with meaningful jobs and skills would go along way in keeping them out of trouble.

Also, representatives of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and Jamaatul Nasirul Islam (NAN) called on members of the communities to embrace peace and remember that everyone will account for his deeds in the Hereafter.

Daybreak News reports that during the meeting, the communities urged the state government to provide them with good road network, to enable them reach out to security agencies during emergency.

They also requested for schools, additional health facilities and jobs for the youth.
