Gov Lalong pledges to transform public schools to meet global standards

Plateau State Governor Simon Lalong at the weekend said at least one school in each of the local government areas of the state would be remodeled to international standard before the end of his tenure.

The Governor stated this at the 4th national convention and dinner of the Shendam Old Students Association, SOSA held at the Government Secondary school Shendam.

Lalong said the facelift of GSS Shendam and others to come was his desire to improve the standard of education in the state.

Governor Lalong urged students to study hard to succeed in their academic pursuit.

He called on citizens to embrace one another and live together in peace irrespective of their affiliations.

Chairman of the Occasion and former member representing Pankshin, Kanke, Kanam, Leo Dilkon advised people of the state to take advantage of the fertile soil God has blessed the state with and venture into agriculture.

In a goodwill message, Professor Garba Sharubutu said the school has produced prominent people in the country one of whom is the Governor, describing him as a humbled man and committed to moving the state forward.

Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Lafia, Professor Muhammed Liman urged students to study hard and promised to consider Alma Mata of the school in terms of admission and employment.

Chairman of Shendam Local Government Council, Alex Nantwam assured the Old students of adequate security throughout their stay for the programme.

In a remark, Principal of the school, Mrs. Mary Yilzem, appreciated the donations made by some sets which include, 25 double bong bed, 50 mattresses, a computer set and a pledge of a bus by the Governor.

She promised to put in to use and maintain the items donated for the benefit of the students.
