2027: Ex-NOA DG Omeri Will Unite Nasarawa South, Deliver Quality Representation – Campaign Spokesperson
By Abel Zwanke, Lafia
The spokesperson for the senatorial campaign of former Director-General of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Dr. Mike Omeri, Hajiya Maryam Osuza, has said the 2027 election offers the people of Nasarawa South Senatorial District an opportunity to elect a leader capable of uniting the zone and providing effective representation at the National Assembly.
Speaking during her inaugural press briefing in Lafia on Tuesday following her appointment, Osuza described her new role as a call to service and pledged to lead an issue-based, peaceful and people-oriented campaign anchored on competence, integrity and development.
She thanked Omeri for the confidence reposed in her and assured him, party members and supporters of her commitment to carrying out the assignment with honesty, professionalism and dedication.
“I accept this responsibility with humility, dedication and a deep sense of duty. I assure Dr. Mike Omeri and his political associates that I will discharge this assignment with honesty, professionalism and unwavering commitment,” she said.
Osuza said the campaign was about restoring public confidence in leadership and ensuring that the people of Nasarawa South have a strong voice in national decision-making.
According to her, the district faces challenges including youth unemployment, insecurity affecting farmers, poor rural roads, inadequate support for women, and the need to improve education and healthcare.
She argued that the zone requires a representative with the experience, integrity and national influence to attract meaningful development.
“The people of Nasarawa South deserve a senator with proven competence, integrity, national acceptance and the experience to attract opportunities to our land. That person is Dr. Mike Omeri,” she said.
Osuza described Omeri as a seasoned public servant who has spent more than three decades building relationships across political, ethnic and religious divides. She added that many indigenes of Nasarawa State had benefited from opportunities, mentorship and appointments facilitated through his national network.
She said Omeri believes in inclusive leadership and is committed to serving all communities across the district equally.
“Whether you are from Awe, Doma, Keana, Lafia or Obi Local Government Area, whether you are Christian or Muslim, whether young or old, Dr. Mike Omeri sees only one people with one common destiny,” she stated.
The spokesperson assured residents that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) campaign would focus on issues affecting the people rather than politics of division.
“We shall conduct an issue-based, peaceful and respectful campaign. We will not campaign on the basis of hatred, falsehood or division. We shall campaign on ideas, competence, character and a clear vision for the future,” she said.
She appealed to traditional rulers, religious leaders, women, youths, professionals, artisans, farmers and students across the senatorial district to support Omeri’s aspiration.
Osuza maintained that Omeri possesses the leadership experience and capacity required to deliver quality representation, while reaffirming her commitment to a campaign built on service, accountability, unity and development.

By Jabiru Hassan
The Forum of APC Renewed Hope Appointees has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State and mobilising support for the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The resolution was reached during the forum’s inaugural meeting held at the Kano State Governor’s Lodge in Abuja.
In a communiqué issued after the meeting, the forum urged residents of Kano State to remain united, peaceful and continue supporting the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, stating that such support would contribute to the state’s and the nation’s continued development.
The forum also congratulated President Tinubu on his emergence as the APC presidential candidate for the 2027 election, alongside Vice President Kashim Shettima as his running mate. Members pledged to work towards delivering the highest possible votes for the APC presidential ticket in Kano State during the election.
Similarly, the forum congratulated Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, and his deputy, Murtala Sule Garo, on their emergence as the party’s gubernatorial candidates. It also extended congratulations to APC candidates for the National and State Assemblies.
The appointees reaffirmed their commitment to supporting the implementation of the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda and pledged alignment with the Kano First Agenda, which they said complements the national development objectives of the Tinubu administration.
The inaugural meeting was convened at the instance of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and was attended by the immediate past APC National Chairman and former Kano State Governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje; the APC State Chairman, Umar Haruna Doguwa; ministers, heads of federal agencies and parastatals, senior presidential aides, board members and other federal political appointees from Kano State.

Delta’s IGR Surpasses ₦200bn as RMAFC Commends Oborevwori’s Diversification Drive
By Anne Azuka
Delta State has increased its Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) from about ₦84 billion in 2023 to over ₦200 billion, representing a growth of more than 138 per cent, as the administration of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori intensifies efforts to diversify the state’s economy beyond oil.
The development was disclosed on Monday in Asaba during a visit by a delegation of the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) to assess the state’s economic diversification and revenue generation initiatives.
Commissioner for Economic Planning, Mr. Sunny Ekedayen, said the state had deliberately repositioned its economy through investments in agriculture, industrialisation, innovation and other non-oil sectors.
He explained that the significant increase in IGR was achieved without raising personal income tax, attributing the growth to an expanded tax base, improved tax administration, stronger compliance and more efficient revenue collection.
Ekedayen noted that agriculture had become a key pillar of the state’s diversification strategy through Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs), with the government providing land while private investors supplied capital and technology for large-scale cultivation of crops such as cassava and oil palm.
Also speaking, the Commissioner for Finance, Chief Fidelis Tilije, said the government was strengthening industrialisation through strategic infrastructure investments. He disclosed that the Kwale Industrial Park would soon be fully energised to attract more investors.
Tilije added that efforts were also underway to revive maritime activities through improved collaboration with the Federal Government on the Warri and Forcados ports.
Leader of the RMAFC delegation, Mr. Victor Eboigbe, described Nigeria’s dependence on oil revenue as unsustainable and commended Delta State’s commitment to economic diversification.
He said the assessment was in line with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and praised Governor Oborevwori’s administration for implementing policies aimed at building a resilient and sustainable economy.
The Federal Commissioner representing Delta State in the RMAFC, Hon. Aruviere Martins Egwarhevwa, said the visit formed part of the commission’s constitutional mandate to assess states’ diversification efforts and strengthen collaboration on fiscal development.
The delegation expressed satisfaction with Delta State’s economic transformation initiatives and urged the government to sustain the momentum in expanding non-oil revenue sources.
